Goodbye My Good Old Friend...

Hey there everyone. I know this is a Tech-Oriented blog and that you all come here to find the latest tech news, tips and reviews from me, but I wanted to share a brief story about a very old friend and close companion of mine. His name is Petie.

Now, I normally don't talk too much about my family on here, but Petie was the families little canine pal. Long ago in the summer before I started Junior High, he became a member of our family when my cousin's dog had puppies and they offered to give us one. We instantly fell in love with him, but they did not want to part with him. He was simply the cutest puppy in the bunch. But after lots of begging a pleading, they finally let us take him home with us.

Over the years, he has been a very playful and loyal dog, always greeting us at the door after a long day at school or work. There was never a time you would come in the house and not see him waiting for us there. Even when we had guests, he met them at our door to say hello in his own little way. And if you were ever upset and down about something, he knew it and would cuddle up beside you to comfort you in your time of need. He was a very loving friend.

These last few years have sure been hard on him. Old age didn't treat him well. He was slowly starting to lose his sight and was hard of hearing. His muscles and bones began to ache with arthritis, but he was still as loyal as ever. He may have had a harder time getting around, but still waited to welcome us home when we arrived and provided us with love when he knew we needed it.

Today, June 19th, 2011 at 10:56am, he passed away in my mothers arms while on his last car ride which is one of the things he loved most. He seemed happy when he passed, surrounded by those who loved him dearly. He will be forever missed, never forgotten and will always be our great canine friend and family member.

Rest in Peace Petie Santellan...
